Fermanolide™ is fermented ashwagandha, a highly valued medicinal herb in Ayurveda. The most valuable part of ashwagandha is the root.
This adaptogenic herb has been activated by lactic acid fermentation.
The great benefit of fermentation
- Better absorption of secondary plant metabolites
The main focus is on the conversion of the original glycolised saponines such as withanolides to the more active form through our proprietary lactic acid fermentation. - The content of withanolide A has been increased by about 70 % after fermentation
- The total withanolides content has been increased by 25 %
- The flavonoids are broken down into smaller active antioxidant molecules by fermentation
The presence of SOD-like substances are not destroyed in the digestive tract as is the case with oral ingestion of superoxide dismutase (SOD). These antioxidants have a similar function to SOD. - Withaferin A is degraded by fermentation to a negligible level
A specific probiotic strain in the fermentation process is able to break down withaferine A. Therefore, eliminating the risk of cell toxicity in case of long-term ingestion. Its genotoxic potential should be carefully considered for functional foods and dietary supplements. - Paraprobiotic effect
Fermanolide™ contains paraprobiotics with similar health-promoting benefits as live probiotic strains. - Much lower daily dose needed
By the high bioavailability and rapid absorption in the small intestine, a daily dose of 150 mg is enough under normal circumstances.
Nature’s intelligence
The advantage of Fermanolide™ is that the natural matrix of the plant has been preserved. Together with the high bioavailability of the active substances, this ingredient is much safer than those who only offer high standardizations on withanolides.
The ashwagandha plant contains many other intelligent substances in addition to the withanolides that are highly beneficial to the body, also in their best absorbable form via traditional fermentation. It is the synergy of secondary plant metabolites in their best absorbable form that plays an important role in the health benefits.
HPLC ANALYSIS
Withanolides are the major bioactive compounds present in ashwagandha, but not all withanolides are beneficial, especially withaferin A with genotoxic potential. Fermanolide™, fermented ashwagandha, contains almost no withaferin A, making it very safe for human consumption unlike many other non-fermented ashwagandha ingredients. Fermanolide™ contains about 3 times more withanolide A than non-fermented ashwagandha which makes it much more potent and efficient.
Why choose Fermanolide™?
- 1.Is highly standardized in withanolides (saponins)
- 2.Conversion of the glycolised saponines to the more active form
- 3.Withaferin A is degraded by fermentation to a negligible level
- 4.The content of withanolide A has been increased by about 70 %
- 5.Formation of SOD-like substances or smaller active antioxidant molecules
- 6.Much lower daily dose needed
